A new page in the history of the Lord of the Rings is written in animation. “All of Middle-earth knows the War of the Ring. But 200 years earlier… another legend was born…”

Open your Middle-earth History books! While waiting for season 2 of the Rings of Power (in a few days on Prime Video), the animated film taken from the Lord of the Rings will explore another chapter of Tolkien's mythology, that dedicated to Rohan, this region of Middle-earth known for its powerful horsemen.

Remember: at the time of the War of the Ring, staged by Peter Jackson In his trilogy, Rohan was ruled by King Théoden (Bernard Hill), supported by his nephew Éomer (Karl Urban) and his niece Éowyn (Miranda Otto). But who were the lords of Edoras before them? What evil did they face? The animated film The Rohirrim Warexpected at the end of the year in theaters, will tell the myths and legends of Rohan and will return to one of the founding events of its History. We discover (below) the first trailer, breathtaking:

Punctuated by the theme of Rohan, with the mythical chords composed by Howard Shore for the trilogy, the images from the Two Towers parade to remind the spectators how much these have shaped their imagination and the way in which they perceive Rohan: Gandalf leaving the stables at full speed, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli arriving and Eowyn watching…

“All of Middle-earth knows of the War of the Ring. But 200 years ago… another legend was born…”

Narrated by Miranda Otto, whose iconic character, a courageous warrior, proved that the women of Rohan are equal to men, the legend in question is also feminine. An Eowyn before her time…

Firemane, Hera, voiced in the original version by Gaia Wise (daughter of Emma Thompson), is the daughter of Helm Hammerhand, ninth King of Rohan, voiced by Brian Cox. One day, Freca, King of the Dunlendings, the Men of Dunland, seeks an audience with the King of Rohan and wishes to forge an alliance, presenting his son, Wulf, who then asks for Hera's hand.

But Helm, seeing this request as a first step towards stealing his throne, fights Freca and kills him instantly. Wulf, furious, threatens Helm and demands vengeance. War is declared.

A series of battles and clashes that will lead us to Helm's Deep – well known to fans – The Rohirrim War promises to be epic and lyrical. Swords clash on all sides, led from the front by this central, heroic female character, to whom the creators have given life and flesh. Since in the annals left by Tolkien, Hera is only mentioned under the simple letter H.
