Jacob Bertrand, one of the actors in the Cobra Kai series, talks about the meeting between the two stars of the saga.

A respect tinged with apprehension. Septuagenarian since last April, Jackie Chan seems to be still admired as in his best years, as much by the fans – numerous – as by the profession. Thus Jacob Bertrandone of the actors in the series Cobra Kai (2018 to present), continuation of the first Karate Kid (1984), tells the story of the meeting between the two stars of the saga for a new film currently being produced by Jonathan Entwistle (The End of the F***ing World).

He details with amusement and admiration how his colleague Ralph Macchiowho has been there since the very beginning of the franchise, opened up after sharing a few action scenes with the legendary Hong Kong actor. Who arrived in Karate Kid with the 2010 remake.

A new Karate Kid is coming…and he'll be trained by Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio!

“He said Jackie Chan always moved like he was 20 years old and it was really scary to fight with him. He reminded me that he was obviously a master and how cool it was to work alongside him.”Bertrand told the media GamesRadarbefore specifying: “He was just saying he was nervous about fighting Jackie Chan, because he's f***ing Jackie Chan! Then he said the fights went really well and everything he did was awesome. I can't wait to see this movie.”

Ralph Macchiowho is also one of the main actors in the Netflix series Cobra Kai (which takes place around thirty years after the first Karate Kid)therefore seems to be delighted to work with Jackie Chan.

Announced in November 2023, the new Karate Kid has been delayed and is scheduled for release on May 30, 2025. In this new version, a rejuvenated cast -excluding Macchio and Chan therefore- will be presented. Note that the team of Cobrai Kai is not involved in the project, probably too busy developing the sixth and final season divided into three parts.

Jackie Chan finally gets his Oscar: “I broke so many bones, and now it's mine”
