Poltergeist Returns to Haunt Family for Amazon MGM Series

In 1982, the world trembled with fear before Poltergeista horror film by Tobe Hooper – the father of Texas Chainsaw Massacre – and co-written and co-produced by Steven Spielberg. The Freeling family moves into a seemingly perfect new house. But behind the ideal home lies a dark story… Ghosts infest the house and kidnap the youngest, Carol-Anne. To save her from the realm of the dead, the parents hire a psychologist who is an expert in the supernatural. Having become a cult classic, the film has already been a success since its release and has received three Oscar nominations.

Two sequels followed, in 1986 and 1988, as well as a reboot in 2015 directed by Gil Kenan (Monster House, Ghostbusters: Legacy), notably with Sam Rockwell. And a few years after a first adaptation in series with Poltergeist: Adventures of the Supernatural Broadcast for four seasons in the 90s on M6 in France, the spirits return to haunt small screen viewers with a new adaptation, commissioned by Amazon MGM.

Announced last October, Variety recently revealed the names of the showrunners. Thus, we will find Kalinda Vazquez – who cut her teeth with Prison Break, Star Strek: Discovery, Once Upon a Time And Fear the Walking Dead – and Robbie Thompson – who served as executive producer on Supernatural and its prequel The Winchesters.

For the moment, the synopsis has not yet been specified.
