Politico has amended a headline that called Vice President Harris' support for a fracking ban an “indictment of Trump,” despite her repeatedly publicly expressing support for a ban during the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries.

“Harris campaign vows she won’t ban fracking after Trump accusations,” read the original headline in Politico, published Sunday.

Harris' campaign team has said the presumptive Democratic nominee does not want to ban fracking. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has cited Harris' initial stance on fracking at campaign rallies, calling on the vice president to change her mind on the issue.

“Trump’s false claims about banning fracking are a clear attempt to distract from his own plans to enrich oil and gas executives at the expense of the middle class,” Harris’ campaign told Politico. “The Biden-Harris administration has passed the most sweeping climate change legislation ever, and under their leadership, America now has the largest domestic energy production ever.”

VICE PRESIDENT HARRIS FACES BACKLASH IN CRUCIAL STATE AFTER HER ANTI-FRACKING STANCE ‘DISASTRONAUTICAL’ RESHAPES

After calling Harris “the ultra-liberal driving force behind every Biden disaster,” Trump added at a recent rally: “She doesn’t want fracking. You’re going to pay a lot of money. You’re going to pay so much. You’re going to say, ‘Bring Trump back.’”

The Politico report called Trump's remarks about Harris' previous position “allegations” in the “Context” section of the article.

According to the Politico report, “Trump's allegations come as Harris is expected to moderate her stance on energy issues after being one of the most liberal candidates vying for the party's nomination for the 2020 election.”

The new title of the report is: “Harris campaign promises it won’t ban fracking.”

“The headline has been changed to accurately reflect the vice president’s evolving positions on fracking,” a Politico spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

The title was criticized on social media.

CNN's Andy Kaczynski wrote on social media that Politico's framing was “bizarre” because it was not an “accusation.”

“She said it publicly many times in 2019. The news is that she has just publicly changed her position,” he added.

Harris also expressed support for the Green New Deal during her 2020 presidential campaign, which would have also banned fracking.

“There’s no question that I support banning fracking,” Harris said during a CNN town hall in 2019 as a presidential candidate.

“And start with what we can do from day one around public lands, right? And then you need legislation, but yes, that’s something I’ve undertaken in California. I’m used to working on this issue, and to your point, we just need to recognize that the residual impact of fracking is enormous in terms of the health and safety of communities,” she said at the time.

In 2019, she also did a “Slow-Jam the News” sketch with “The Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon, where she declared that she would “get rid of fracking once and for all.”
