PITTSBURGH’S ACTION NEWS 4 CHELSEA AND HAPPENING RIGHT NOW. A WEEKS LONG CLOSURE OF THE RAMP FROM THE INBOUND PARKWAY EAST TO ARDMORE BOULEVARD. WELL, THAT IS UNDERWAY. AND WHILE THE WORK IS IMPACTING A LOT OF DRIVERS, SOME NEIGHBORS WHO LIVE NEARBY ARE RAISING CONCERNS. YES, THEY ARE. PITTSBURGH’S ACTION NEWS FOUR REPORTER MARCIE CIPRIANI YOU TALKED WITH ONE NEIGHBOR WHO SAYS THE WORK IS KEEPING HER UP AT NIGHT. MARCI. YEAH. ANDREW. THE FAMILY I SPOKE WITH LIVES ABOUT A MILE FROM THIS EXIT RAMP HERE IN WILKINSBURG, WHERE THAT WORK IS GOING ON. AND THEY SAY IT WAS SO LOUD OVERNIGHT. THEY THOUGHT SOMEONE WAS INSIDE THEIR HOME. THIS IS THE SOUND THAT ANNABELLE PETER SAYS JARRED HER AWAKE AT 2:30 A.M. IT WAS ACTUALLY REALLY, REALLY LOUD. IT JUST KEPT GETTING LOUDER THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT FROM HER UPSTAIRS BEDROOM IN FOREST HILL, SHE SAYS AT FIRST, SHE HAD NO IDEA WHAT IT WAS. IT WAS LIKE THIS BANGING NOISE AND THERE WAS LIKE THIS WEIRD BEEPING SOUND OR LIKE METAL GETTING BANGED AGAINST SOMETHING, PETER SAYS. IT WAS SO LOUD SHE THOUGHT IT WAS INSIDE HER HOUSE. YEAH. SO I WAS DEAD ASLEEP AND WOKE UP WITH MY DAUGHTER IN MY BEDROOM. UM, JUST REALLY FREAKED OUT. SO SHE RUSHED TO WAKE HER MOM, JENNIFER SAYS THAT’S WHEN THEY REALIZED THE NOISE INSIDE THEIR HOME WAS COMING FROM THE PARKWAY RAMP. ON DAY ONE OF THE FULL CLOSURE AT THE WILKINSBURG EXIT, LESS THAN A MILE AWAY. IT WAS EVERY 10S AND IT SOUNDED LIKE METAL BANGING. WE REACHED OUT TO PENNDOT, A REPRESENTATIVE TELLS ME THAT OVERNIGHT CREWS WERE BREAKING APART THE ROAD, AND THAT SHOULD BE THE LOUDEST OF IT. BUT SHE SAYS THE WORK WILL STILL BE LOUD, POSSIBLY THROUGH THE WEEKEND, AND THEN IT SHOULD QUIET. PETERS AND HER MOM ARE ASKING FOR LIMITS I PREFER STRONGLY THAT YOU KNOW IT, NOT CONTINUE PAST MIDNIGHT, BUT PENNDOT OFFICIALS SAY MAKING THOSE CHANGES WILL DELAY THE WORK AND COULD KEEP THE RAMP CLOSED FOR LONGER THAN THE SCHEDULED MONTH. THE SPOKESPERSON FOR PENNDOT SAYS IF THIS CONTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM FOR RESIDENTS, THEY ARE WILLING TO HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH THEM. BUT FOR NOW, SHE SAYS, THE WORK WILL CONTINUE AND THE LOUD WORK SHOULD BE DONE BY NEXT WEEK. REPORTING LI
