Orphan Black is really over: the spin-off is canceled after one season

Six years after the original series, Orphan Black Echoes starring Krysten Ritter comes to an abrupt end.

Sad news for fans of the science fiction series. This interpretation challenge would earn her three nominations and a win at the Emmy Awards. Orphan Black featured the search for their origin, scientific experiments, and their survival against numerous enemies.

Thirty-seven years after the events that ended the series, Kira, the daughter of Sarah, one of the main clones, and the main character of the first seasons, helps an amnesiac woman remember who she is. Played by Krysten Ritter (Breaking Bad, Jessica Jones), Lucy is searching for her identity. She then discovers the existence of copies in the person of several women, and her creation in a high-tech laboratory that manipulates human existence.

The reasons for its cancellation have not been released. It could be due to lack of funding or audience, or to its mixed reviews. Orphan Black Echoes is slightly above average with a score of 60% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. When it was first broadcast, the main actress confided to Hollywood Reporter that launching a new project today, with all the existing streaming platforms and marketing strategies regulating the market, was becoming more than complicated.

Viewers will be able to console themselves by watching the original series available in its entirety on Netflix, and its little sister on Ciné OCS+ included in the Canal + offer.
