Season 4 ofOnly Murders in the Building has just ended, but already renewed by Disney, season 5 is actively being prepared. And the co-creator John Hoffman gives some clues on what is being prepared in TVline… Spoiler alert!
We understand from the finale that the disappearance of Nicky “The Neck” Caccimelio will be at the heart of the plot. Notably because Tea Leoni made his guest star debut in the season 4 finale, playing his wife, Sofia Caccimelio.
“We just received the first elements of scripts for season 5. It's just a few days ago, so it's still too early to confirm anything“, answers John Hoffmanwho nevertheless specifies that he has every intention of bringing back Tea Leoni.
“I have the immense hope and conviction that this can be done!”
And John Hoffman to explain that the story of season 5 d'Only Murders in the Building should return to New York to tell a mafia story: “There's a real opportunity for Season 5 to bring us back to the world of today's New York, in many ways…and maybe even the headlines about New York City from today, in the real world, could influence some stories in ways we haven't yet decided.”
And Meryl Streep SO ? Will she be back in season 5?
Loretta flew to New Zealand to resume filming her spin-off Grey's Anatomyright after marrying Oliver. A long-distance marriage, which allows the series to retain the possibility of bringing back the actress with three Oscars.
“It’s clearly thoughtful and pragmatic, of course” admits John Hoffman, who also speaks of a “beautifully adult decisione” from Loretta and Oliver who did not “no need to live their union in a traditional way. Our story is not ordinary, so why should our marriage be? They will long for each other, and then when they meet again, it will be all the more more magical.”
