Netflix Orders New Ghostbusters Animated Series

It will be in the vein of the latest films released in theaters and will be produced by Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan.

In the works for two years, the new animated series Ghostbusters will indeed see the light of day on Netflix.

Variety announces that the platform has ordered this new cartoon derived from the Ghostbusterscertainly convinced by the nice little success of The Ice Threat and its $200 million in revenue last spring.

It is not yet known which characters will be at the center of the plot (the old ones? Phoebe Spengler? new hunters?) but it will be animated in 3D and in line with the last two films. Ghostbusters in terms of tone.

Elliott Kalanauthor of the Daily Show with Jon Stewartwill serve as writer and executive producer, while the producers of Ghostbusters: Legacy And Ghostbusters: The Ice ThreatJason Reitman and Gil Kenan, will serve as producers through Ghost Corps, Inc.

Note that this will be the third animated series in the franchise after Ghostbusters (The Real Ghostbusters) broadcast from 1986 to 1991 and Extreme Ghostbustersreleased in 1997.
