An opportunity for the creator, Richard Gadd, to get messages across.

After winning over Netflix subscribers, My Little Reindeer cracked the Emmy AwardsLast night, the suspenseful thriller swept most of the awards in the limited series or anthology category, beating out the new Fargo Or True Detective. Excuse me for the little.

The creator Richard Gadd went up on stage three times: for Best Actor, Best Screenplay and, most importantly, for the major trophy of Best Mini-Series. And he took advantage of his presence on the Emmys stage to get some messages across. First, to those who, like him, have been at rock bottom: “Things always get better eventually” he promises.

Then, at the end of the evening, while My Little Reindeer had just won his 4th prize, Richard Gadd appealed to Hollywood to continue taking risks with original stories:

“I believe that to stop the crisis, you need the willingness to take risks. If My Little Reindeer has proven anything, it's that there is no magic formula for making a success. You don't need to have stars in the lead roles or adapt a license or a brand that is a hit, or even to take old series or create a narrative that can capture all audiences. The only constant in the recipe for success is good storytelling. Good storytelling that speaks to the times. So take risks. Push the boundaries. Explore discomfort. Dare to fail in order to succeed.”

My Little Reindeer thus won 6 Emmy Awards in total, including Best Cast or Best Actress for Jessica Gunning.
