The next Annecy international animated film festival will award a prize to Michael Gondryduring the 2025 edition, expected from June 8 to 14. After highlighting Mexico and Portugal, it ishungarian animation which will be in the spotlight this year. And the director ofEternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind will receive the Crystal of Honor.
Famous for having directed numerous clips with techniques borrowed from animated cinema, notably stop motion, he designed in 2014 Lively conversation with Noam Chomsky, and more recently signed, with his daughter, Maya, give me a title. “The 2025 edition of the festival, which will highlight the links between animation and music videos, will offer a journey to the heart of the director’s creative process,” tease its organizers.

Marcel Jeanthe artistic delegate of the Festival, salutes an artist who “assumes the legacy of Georges Méliès as much as that of Norman McLaren. He put artisanal animation techniques back on the agenda through his boundless creativity and innovative approach, as brilliantly illustrated by The Science of Dreams.”
