Meryl Streep will make her return to the small screen in the series Corrections

An adaptation of a book by Jonathan Franzen, which Hollywood has been trying to bring to the screen for decades.

In recent years, she has appeared as a luxury guest star here and there. Supporting role in Big Little Lies or invited in Only Murders in the Buildingthe very Oscar winner Meryl Streep has just signed for a new big role on the small screen.

She will be the star of Jonathan Franzen's bestselling novel, Corrections. According to TVLine, a limited series project based on the 2001 book is in progress. CBS Studios confirms that the project is in its ” very early stages » and will soon be offered to streaming platforms, which should fight to broadcast this prestigious series.

Especially since Jonathan Franzen in person must write the adaptation and be a producer.

Corrections is about a dysfunctional family, the Lamberts: a couple in their seventies, Alfred and Enid, and their three children, Chip, Gary and Denise. When Alfred's health begins to deteriorate due to Parkinson's disease and dementia, Enid becomes obsessed with having a family reunion, determined to spend one last Christmas together before her husband is too sick.

About ten years ago, director Noah Baumbach had already tried to make a drama for HBO – with Ewan McGregor, Dianne Wiest and Maggie Gyllenhaal among the actors recruited at the time – but HBO ultimately preferred to pass.

It must be remembered that Meryl Streep has already often shone on television. She already has two Emmy Awards for Best Actress on her mantelpiece: the first won in 1978 for the historic mini-series Holocaust. And the second won in 2004 for Angels in America (against Al Pacino).
