Mads Mikkelsen, who is the Japanese voice actor for the role of the enemy lion Kiros in the super live-action movie “The Lion King: Mufasa,'' which is a prequel to “The Lion King,'' sings his beautiful voice in the movie's song “Bye Bye.'' The song marks Mikkelsen's first full-fledged performance in his career, and allows you to enjoy a wide range of vocal tones, which he says he “tried out a variety of variations.''

Just as Scar's “Get Ready'' was heard in “The Lion King,'' “Bye Bye'' is a masterpiece that expresses the evil lion's mischievous spirit. It is one of the highlights of Mufasa, but it has been revealed that it was actually a part that was not originally planned. Lin-Manuel Miranda, who created the song, told Variety the surprising story behind the song.

Miranda swept the musical awards race with the Broadway musical “In the Heights'' and became a darling of stage music. He has been working with Disney since 2016's “Moana'' and worked on the soundtrack for “The Lion King: Mufasa.''

In fact, the creation of “Bye Bye” was all inspired by Miranda's advice. “There was no room in the original script for a villain song,” Miranda revealed. “So I proposed to Barry, 'I know we don't have the length, but we have Mads Mikkelsen, right? Isn't he our best James Bond villain?”

In the movie, Kiros, played by Mikkelsen, is driven by a desire for revenge against Mufasa and relentlessly hunts him down. Although he is a cunning and brutal villain, he also shows off his dancing side in “Bye Bye.” “It's a combination like peanut butter and pickles, but I think these two flavors go really well together,'' Miranda said, explaining the purpose of the song and the image of the villain in the song.

“The best villains have their own circumstances, and that's what makes the best villains interesting. They're not villains just because they're bad. They have aspects that contradict the main character.” It was a lot of fun writing lyrics like “The Circle of Life is a Lie'' and surprising the audience.

“For the same reason, you could say, 'Killmonger was right,'” Miranda says, referring to the Marvel film Black Panther (2018). Killmonger is the movie's villain, but he also has a reason for revenge, and the audience can't help but sympathize with Killmonger. Miranda wasn't involved in Black Panther, but it seems like he saw similarities between Killmonger and Kyros.

“If the villain has a reason, you'll want to root for him. When each person has a reason for their position, the best things come out. That's why I had a lot of fun writing this song.”

“The Lion King: Mufasa” is now in theaters. “Bye Bye” was produced by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who supported Mads Mikkelsen, and you can listen to it below.
