Less than 12 hours after his initial post on X, Kyle Rittenhouse removed his comment, saying he was going to write about Ron Paul because “Trump wasn’t pro-gun enough.”

“Hi, I’m Kyle Rittenhouse, Director of Outreach for Texas Gun Rights. A lot of people are upset because I said I was going to write for Ron Paul for President of the United States, and I am. I will write for Ron Paul,” Rittenhouse posted in a video on his X account.

Rittenhouse continued his video by explaining why he does not support Donald Trump for president.

“Unfortunately, Donald Trump had bad advisors who made him bad on the Second Amendment and that’s my problem. If you can’t be completely uncompromising on the Second Amendment, I will not vote for you and I will write someone else to replace him,” Rittenhouse promised. “We need defenders of the Second Amendment or our rights will be eroded and eroded every day. I stand by my decision and there is no way I can turn back.”

Rittenhouse commented on the post: “You have to stick to your principles.”

He then posted another message saying: “No compromise means no compromise.”

However, less than 12 hours later, Rittenhouse pinned a new post to the top of his X account claiming that he had spoken to Trump's team and was retracting his comments.

“Over the past 12 hours, I have had a series of productive conversations with members of the Trump team and I am confident that he will be the strong ally gun owners need to defend our Second Amendment rights,” Rittenhouse said.

“My comments last night were ill-informed and unproductive. I 100% support Donald Trump and encourage all gun owners to join me in helping return him to the White House,” he continued.

Jurors in Kenosha, Wisconsin, found Rittenhouse not guilty on all counts in 2021. Rittenhouse would have faced a mandatory life sentence if convicted and found guilty of first-degree intentional homicide.

President Biden said he had “not watched the trial” but stood by “the jury's conclusion.”

“While the Kenosha verdict leaves many Americans angry and concerned, including me, we must recognize that the jury has spoken. I campaigned on a promise to bring Americans together, because I believe that what unites us is far greater than what divides us,” Biden said in a previous statement after the verdict. “I know we won’t heal our country’s wounds overnight, but I remain committed to doing everything in my power to ensure that every American is treated equally, with fairness and dignity, under the law.”

He added that “violence and destruction of property have no place in our democracy.”
