The star of Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis tried his luck to join the cast of World War Z.
“I don't know, it wasn't a dream…” At the very beginning of the year, Cécile of France revealed that he had been in the running to join the casting of World War Zby Marc Forster in 2013. But the role of the wife of Brad Pittultimately run by the American Mireille Einos, did not seem to be sufficiently fleshed out:
“Being Brad Pitt's wife yes, but the element was still missing… And then the role was very secondary, it wasn't very interesting: it was to play his wife, who is a little scared at the beginning and at the end. Me, I need to have a real journey, a real trajectory, with a character who evolves. A real interesting score, indeed. “
A few months later, another French-speaking star revealed that he had tried his luck for a supporting role in the same film: Kad Merad. In full promotion of Christmas ballsalongside Valérie Bonneton, the flagship actor of Welcome to the Ch'tis explains having “tested for Brad Pitt”before telling how this kind of casting for a big Hollywood production can be “horrible.”
Because Kad did not have a real audition in the United States: he recorded a video, all alone at home, to send it to the production, which was looking for actors from different countries to World War Zblockbuster about a global epidemic that transforms humans into zombies.
“I'm not in the film, it's because it wasn't a good attempt, Merad laughs today, who adds that he 'take a swipe' : I filmed myself at home, alone, loser. In English, I'm so bad…”
To think that we could have seen Kad Merad playing opposite Brad Pitt…
