“There will not be several additional days of filming,” assures the director of DC Studios.
This is not the type of house! James Gunn did not plan to do reshoots, strictly speaking, for Superman. The director confirmed on his networks that he was going to shoot some “ recovery plans ”, but nothing important.
“Reshoots? No, not really. There won't be several extra days of filming. We're doing a day and a half to film a few things. No scenes. These aren't reshoots. It'll just be a handful of takes for improve the film here and there.
James Gunn doesn't like reshoots. Already for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023) and The Suicide Squad (2021), he had put aside additional filming. A small feat, which he explains by his production recipe:
“You have to: 1) Over-prepare in advance. 2) Don't start shooting before having a finished script that satisfies my entire team. 3) Hire actors and department heads who I know can do their work 4) Surround myself with people who are willing to contradict me 5) Question me: are there small imperfections in the script that might end up looking like huge imperfections when we edit the film. ? 6) 1 and 2 again!”
Superman will be released in due time, in July 2025 in theaters.
