Screenwriter David Koepp reveals the rules he imposed on himself when writing this 7th part of the dino saga.
A rebirth, certainly, but a sequel nonetheless. The screenwriter of Jurassic World Rebirth promises that the new film in the saga will not ignore its glorious past. This will indeed be the 7th part of a franchise that he himself launched by writing Jurassic Park in 1993.
In an interview with The Wrap, David Koep says he totally followed “nine rules or commandments” that Jurassic World Rebirth had to respect:
“The first rule is that the events of the previous six films cannot be forgotten, denied or contradicted because I hate 'retcons' (sequels that reinvent the story of the previous films).”
He continues and explains the second rule, which requires Jurassic World Rebirth not to go into pure science fiction: “All science must be real“.
David Koep also reveals his third rule: “Humor is oxygen” implied, essential breaths for a tense script.
The other six rules have not been revealed as they venture into a “spoiler territory” specifies the screenwriter. But David Koep nevertheless promises that Jurassic World Rebirth has in “the idea of starting from scratch. There aren't many prerogatives to follow. Aside from the fact that there must be dinosaurs… Writing Jurassic Park was one of the favorite experiences of my career so far. The combination of high adventure and real science is right up my alley. There, I was able to have fun finding a new tone. Changing the tone and characters of the saga, every three films, it seems consistent.”
Jurassic Park Rebirth takes place five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion. The plot of the film revolves around a “fearless team“who must “securing DNA samples from the three most colossal creatures on land, sea and air” after “the planet's ecology proved very inhospitable to dinosaurs.”
Scarlett Johansson will play the role of Zora Bennett. Mahershala Ali (in the role of Duncan Kincaid), Jonathan Bailey (Dr. Henry Loomis) and Rupert Friend (Martin Krebs) will also be in the cast, surrounded by Manuel Garcia-RulfoLuna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain and Ed Skrein.
Jurassic World Rebirth will be released in theaters on June 30, 2025 in France.
