The actor is at the Venice Film Festival and refuses to justify himself, without the presence of the other creatives of the film to answer him.
Visiting Venice this week, where Joker: Madness for Two will be presented as a world premiere, Joaquin Phoenix was invited to explain, at a press conference, another feature film: the film by Todd Hayneswhich he crashed a few days before filming, leading to the production being shut down altogether.
A situation that has caused much tension in Hollywood, to the point that the Hollywood Reporter magazine recently revealed “anger“from the Hollywood producer community,”furious at the star's behavior“and doing”pressure so that Joaquin Phoenix be prosecuted for leaving the project Todd Haynes.”
Facing journalists present in Venice today, the 49-year-old actor refused to explain himself, arguing that he would not be “correct“to address the controversy without the presence of the director or producers, implying that there was indeed a creative disagreement:
“I think if I talk about it, I'll just be sharing my opinion, my point of view. But other creatives aren't there to give their version. And I don't think that's good. I don't see how that would be useful. So no, I won't talk about it.”

This “sexually explicit film” and developed for years by Hayes, in collaboration with the star, was to tell the love story between two men in the 1930s. Joaquin Phoenix had to give the reply to Danny Ramirezbut 5 days before the start of filming, the actor said that he would not ultimately do this film… without giving (officially) a reason.
