A new adaptation in ten episodes, produced by Martin Scorsese himself.
Horribly creepy as the father of Menendez brothers in the Netflix series, Javier Bardem will once again play a terrifying villain in a new series: Cape Fear ! Apple TV+ has ordered this serial adaptation of the cult film Nerves on edge of Martin Scorsese (1991), based on the novel The Executionerswritten by John D. MacDonald (1957).
According to the official synopsis, “A storm brews for happily married lawyers Amanda and Steve Bowden when Max Cady, a notorious killer from their past, is released from prison…”
Javier Bardem will play the psychopath determined to take revenge on his lawyer and will reprise the role made cult by Robert de Niro about thirty years ago – and by Gregory Peck in the first version of 1962.
In development since 2023, the series will be produced by Martin Scorsese himself, as well as Steven Spielbergwho also produced the 1991 film (he was originally supposed to direct the film before choosing Schindler's List instead).
Nerves on edge will feature 10 episodes written by Nick Antosca. We do not yet know who the other names in the casting will be.
