Netflix's live-action versionIt has been revealed that Jamie Lee Curtis, who was expected to play the role of Dr. Kureha in “One Piece”, will not be appearing.This was confirmed by Becky Clemens, president of Tomorrow Studios, the film's producer.

Curtis himself applied for the role of Dr. Kureha even before season 1 of the series was released. Fans on the internet were quick to back Curtis up, saying he was the perfect fit for the role.

It was announced that Chopper, known as the Straw Hat Pirates' ship's doctor, will appear in Season 2. Dr. Kureha, who taught Chopper his medical skills, is also likely to appear in the live-action version.Matt Owens, who serves as the writer and co-showrunner, revealed that he had approached Curtis and that the script was being written with Curtis in mind, so it seemed like it was just a matter of time before he was cast.

However, Clemens, who is in charge of the production, recently revealed to Deadline that Curtis' appearance was no longer possible, due to Curtis' busy shooting schedule being an obstacle.

“She loves the project but has a lot of film and TV commitments coming up and it just didn't work with our production schedule. She really wanted to do it but her contract takes priority and it just got complicated.”

Season 2 will begin filming in South Africa in early July. According to Clements, the casting for the role of Dr. Kureha has already been decided, and he commented, “We've found a great person.”

The highly anticipated second season will see the return of the Straw Hat Pirates' main cast, including Iñaki Godoy as Luffy. New cast members include Callum Carr as Smoker, Julia Rehwaldt as Tashigi, Smoker's swordsman, Rob Colletti as Wapol, and newcomer Ty Keough as Wapol's subordinate Dalton. The secret crime corporation Baroque Works will be represented by Daniel Lasker as Mr. 9, Camrus Johnson as Mr. 5, Jazara Jaslin as Miss Valentine, and David Dastmalchian as Mr. 3. Werner Coetzer and Brendan Marley will play the titans Dory and Brogy, and Clive Russell will play Crocus, the former ship's doctor for the Roger Pirates.
