Rebel Ridge star will be John Stewart for the HBO show “Lanterns.”
The rumor announced it ten days ago, it's now official. Aaron Pierre will embody John Stewart aka Green Lantern for the series Lanternsa show developed by HBO in association with Warner Bros Television and DC Studios. While Deadline released the information, James Gunn, DC's big man, confirmed it via his X account (formerly Twitter), not hiding his enthusiasm for this recruitment:

Green Lantern is a superhero who has had multiple identities in comics, including that of John Stewart who appeared in the 1970s and whose appearance was inspired by actor Sidney Poitier. In the series Lanternshe will face Hal Jordan, another version of the character (played in the cinema in 2011 by Ryan Reynolds), who will be played by veteran Kyle Chandler (Tomorrow in the news, Friday Night Lightshow has also just been revealed Deadline.
Aaron Pierre recently burst onto the screen in Rebel Ridge, the excellent thriller by Jeremy Saulnier which was a hit on Netflix. This rising star had previously appeared in the series Underground Railroad by Barry Jenkins, or Old by M. Night Shyamalan. We profiled him last month, predicting (quite easily) that he would soon inherit important new roles.

Lanterns is a highly anticipated series, created by Chris Mundy (Ozark), Damon Lindelof (The Leftovers, Watchmen) and comic book author Tom King. It will follow new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic cops caught up in a dark mystery as they investigate a murder committed in the heart of the United States.
James Hawes, director ofA Lifewill sign the first two of the eight episodes that will make up the series.
