The first images of this new DC series were shown at Comic-Con in San Diego.

In the middle of filming his Superman (first titled Superman: Legacy), James Gunn caused a sensation at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, revealing (remotely) the first images of Creature Commandosan animated series stamped DC Comics and Studios, and scheduled for next December.

At the helm of DC Studios with Peter Safranhis long-time sidekick, we can say that James Gunn is having a blast and multiplying projects.

“Since our earliest days at DC Studios, my partner Peter Safran and I have worked to unite the traditionally distinct worlds of DC film, television, animation and gaming under one banner.”he said before introducing the studio's new logo.

A logo that we find at the beginning of the very first teaser of Creature Commandos which some are already describing as a new Suicide Squad made up of creatures from the horror side of the DCU.

According to initial information, the plot of Creature Commandos should take place “after the events of the first season of Peacemaker (2022) [alors qu’]Amanda Waller is no longer able to put human lives at risk for her clandestine operations.”. The Bride, Dr Phosphorus, Weasel, GI Robot, Nina Mazurka and Frankenstein thus form the “Task Force – M”, “M for monster”, we are told.

These first images present the series as the deployment of a completely crazy universe, electric (both literally and figuratively), but still epic. A series as a response to X-Men 97'a big Marvel TV hit released this year, which rekindles the DC/Marvel war while Deadpool 3 is currently a hit in theaters.

In the cast of James Gunn's new baby, Frank Grillowhich plays the same role as in the future Superman (Rick Flag Sr.'s), Maria Bakalova (already heard in Guardians of the Galaxy 3), Indira Varma (Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning), Zoe Chao (The OA), Alan Tudyk (voice of the Joker in the series Harley Quinn And Titans), David Harbour (Stranger Things), Sean Gunn (James' brother seen in particular in Guardians 2 And 3 And The Suicide Squad in which he already played Weasel) and Steve Agee who takes over the role of John Economos after The Suicide Squad And Shazam 2.

To catch up with all these wonderful people, head over to HBO's brand new platform, Max, in December (the exact date has not yet been announced).
