In December, Ridley Scott did not hide the fragility of his casting Dog Starsrevealing to Christopher Nolan, during a screening of Gladiator IIthat its main actor was perhaps slipping through his fingers. A month later, Mescal has been confirmed in the role of Paul McCartneybut the British director has already found a replacement for him in the person of Jacob Elordi.

According to Varietythe Australian actor is reportedly in negotiations for this post-apocalyptic thriller produced by 20th Century. The story of a catastrophic influenza virus that wipes out almost all of humanity. Based on a novel by Peter Heller published in 2012, the screenplay of Dog Stars was written by Mark L. Smith (Twisters) and should be Scott's next film. Before or after his biopic on the Bee Gees for Paramount? If his hiring becomes official, then Elordi will play a pilot named Hig who befriends a grumpy shooter as they try to survive a band of scavengers called Reapers.

Except that for the moment, nothing is assured: Elordi also has a busy schedule, with the last season of'Euphoria to shoot for HBO and the new adaptation of Wuthering Heights by Emmerall Fennell at Warner with Margot Robbie. Production on this film is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2025, but Scott is also reportedly aiming for filming in early spring. It is not yet clear which production, if any, will be pushed back to allow Elordi to commit to these two films.

By working with Scott, Elordi would in any case expand his film portfolio, built up until now with leading filmmakers: he recently played the role of Elvis in Priscilla by Sofia Coppola, directed by Paul Schrader in Oh, Canadaand we will soon find him as Frankenstein's monster at Guillermo del Toro.
