Political drama event, with Swann Arlaud and Karin Viard, it will be broadcast on France Télévisions at the end of the month.

A declared presidential candidate, who releases a political series on public service… This is not common. And yet, Edward Philippe and his close collaborator Gilles Boyer are indeed the co-writers of In the Shadowadaptation of their 2011 novel by Pierre Schoeller (The State Exercise).

The former Matignon pair uses their past experiences to tell the story of a right-wing primary, in a political thriller deciphering the practices of French politics. Swann Arlaud will be César Casalonga, a man in the shadows who advises the much loved Paul Francoeur (Melvil Poupaud), last rampart against the drift of the Republican right party towards the extremes, embodied by the candidate Marie-France Trémeau (Karin Viard), representative of the hard right current. This first extract demonstrates this:

“Paul Francoeur has just won his party's primaries and is starting a presidential campaign that promises to be eventful. César Casalonga, his main advisor, must dodge attacks from other candidates and extinguish the resentment of his own political family. When a rumor of fraud in the primaries threatens to weaken the candidacy of his boss, César understands that he will have to lead the most difficult fight of his lifee” details the synopsis.

Composed of 6 episodes, In the Shadow will be available from October 23 on france.tv and from Wednesday October 30 at 9 p.m. on France 2.
