Showrunner Ryan Condal (partly) confirms George RR Martin's plans.

In the fall of 2022, the author of Game Of Thrones, George RR Martinwrote on his blog that in order to properly adapt his story Fire & BloodHBO should decline it on four seasons of 10 episodes each. Plans which are today (partly) confirmed by Ryan Condal, the showrunner of the series.

Holding a press conference yesterday, just after the broadcast of the final episode of season 2, he first mentioned the filming of its direct sequel. “early 2025”Fora broadcast planned for 2026then he explained that after that, the series would still have one last season. House of the Dragon should therefore be fine stop at the end of season 4.

“I haven't really discussed this with HBO, he said, but I anticipate in relation to the rhythm of the show and from a script point of view, we will continue directly what we did in season 2.”

So a season 3 of eight episodes (and not ten)? That's what we understood Varietywho relays his remarks while recalling that beyond House of the Dragonthe universe of Game Of Thrones is being developed in depth by HBO, with several spin-offs being launched in parallel. Max has just unveiled the first images ofA Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (scheduled for 2025) in its big summer trailer, and we know that the production is preparing three series: one still mysterious, one on Aegon's conquest and another on the conquest of Dorne by Princess Nymeria (10,000 Ships). Animated shows, currently untitled, are also under consideration.
