“House Targaryen has dragon blood. If everyone can claim a dragon, then what are we?”

The stakes are high, because the end of season 2 of House of the Dragon is fast approaching. While episode 6 released this Monday is the lowest rated of the entire franchise on IMDB – boycotted by some because of the final kiss… – the upcoming episode 7 will be the penultimate of this season. While the finale will probably be bloody and memorable, what does episode 7 have in store for fans? Warning spoilers!

Rhaenyra's plan didn't go as planned. The dragon seeds put in front of the fire-breathing creatures all died. All except one: Addam of Carène. In Harrenhaal, Daemon seems to have met the last ghost of his past. In King's Landing, Prince Regent Aemond has sent armies to dislodge his uncle from the fortress in order to regain control of the strategic position of the Riverlands. In the streets, the seeds sown by Mysaria's spies have grown, and the people are grumbling. The threat comes as much from without as from within… Now, these armies must be gathered before the inevitable confrontation, as teased in the trailer for episode 7, below.

One would have thought that the arrival of Seasmoke with Addam (Clinton Liberty) would delight the Blacks who find themselves with a dragon rider in their camp. But the first minutes of the trailer suggest a confrontation between him and Rhaenyra. Why? Jacaerys explains:

“House Targaryen has dragon blood. If everyone can claim a dragon then what are we?”

Only those with Targaryen blood—that is, dragon blood—can claim to ride a dragon. But Addam has neither Targaryen nor dragon blood. He is the illegitimate son of Lord Corlys. And this exception seems to matter a lot to the Blacks. But will they reject Addam's potential help in the war that opposes them to the Greens?

And will Daemon finally be reunited with his wife? While many fans are starting to find the time long in Harrenhaal, the disparaging remark made in this trailer by the young Oscar Tully, Lord of Riverrun, may be a sign of his departure. Since his arrival, he has only aggravated the generational conflict between the Nebrosc and the Bracken.

On the Green side, Alicent, removed from power, realizes that all her efforts for her house and the kingdom have been in vain. They no longer have the support of the people, King Aegon is still suffering and Aemond on horseback seems to go into battle, leaving King's Landing behind him and defenseless?

The only hope for them is the arrival of Daeron, the last son of Alicent and her dragon Tessarion – teased for several episodes. With him, as one of the advisors announces, the Hightower army would be unbeatable.

More dragons will come into play. The one from the Vale too? Rhaena, visible in this trailer, could be brought to confront the latter.

House of the Dragon season 2: Who is the dragon present in the Valley?

While Joffrey and his brothers should head to the Fol Abandon – that ship bound for Essos. As readers of Fire and Bloodthe arrival of this episode does not bode well.

The final battle approaches, the hosts gather, and for Rhaenyra:

“With these dragons, peace will return.”

Episode 7 of season 2 of House of the Dragon will be available Monday July 29 on Max.
