Now that he has the shield back, can Sam Wilson prevent another war in America?
“You’re not Steve Rogers!” How to be Captain America when you are only the successor of Captain America ? The mission of Sam Wilson, ex-Falcon, who has become the new bearer of America's protective shield, promises to be very delicate. Especially since the new trailer (below) – unveiled this weekend during a Disney convention in Brazil – tells us that he will be squarely opposed to the Commander in Chief of the United States:! Sam Wilson/Captain America against President Thaddeus Ross/Red Hulk, it will be the face to face that will blow up this Brave New World !
What exactly does the new video reveal?
We understand that a terrorist attack will open the film. An attack aimed at killing the new President of the USA. Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, a tough former general in the U.S. Army, was elected. It is now performed by Harrison Ford (following the death of William Hurt). We understand that Isaiah Bradley (played by Carl Lumbly), already seen in the series Falcon and the Winter Soldierwill be accused of the attempted assassination. But is he really the bad guy? And who wants to declare war on America?
Very quickly, we guess in the trailer that Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) will be hunted down by his own country. And by its own President. The POTUS will be doped with Gamma rays and will transform into Red Hulk. Obviously, this is no coincidence, since the character has a long history with Marvel's green giant. General Ross (in the guise of William Hurt) appeared for the first time in 2008 in the MCU on the occasion of The Incredible Hulk Louis Leterrier. He then tried to kill Bruce Banner (played at the time by Edward Norton), even if it means carrying out dubious experiments and creating “the Abomination” (Tim Roth). It should be remembered that Banner was then having a passionate relationship with his daughter, Betty Ross. And precisely, Liv Tyler will return, 17 years later, to reprise his role in Captain America: Brave New World.
The rest of the cast will introduce the Israeli actress Shira Haas (great revelation of Unorthodox on Netflix) in the role of Israeli superhero Sabra. Giancarlo Esposito (breaking Bad) will be the villain Sidewinder and Tim Blake Nelson (Watchmen) will play the Leader.
Captain America: Brave New World will be released on February 12, 2025 in cinemas in France.
