Lupin co-creator François Uzan adapts the popular board game into a family comedy.

Who has never played Loups-garous de Thiercelieux? Whether with friends or family, this card game has won over the public since its creation in 2001 by Philippe des Pallières and Hervé Marly – so much so that an online version exists and it has been adapted into several languages around the world. The English call it The Werewolves of Millers Hollow, and Netflix simply WerewolvesThe platform transforms the cult game into a family comedy and an adventure film in the style of Jumanji or even of Zathurain which players find themselves trapped in the game universe. In this case, among these players, there are Franck Dubosc And Jean Reno.

“We're playing Werewolves”: Franck Dubosc and Jean Reno have fun at Netflix [Bande-annonce]

“It's nighttime. The whole village is falling asleep. There are now beasts among the villagers of Thiercelieux…”

As the little family starts a game, things go wrong and all the members find themselves propelled into the past, more specifically to 1497. In a village where executions take place every morning. This alerts them: here they are in the game, in Thiercelieux. How to get out of there? Only one solution: unmask all the werewolves, as in the original game, before they take advantage of the night to make them their dinner. But unlike in reality, where you just have to sit with your eyes closed and discreetly point your finger at the person of your choice, the game will be strewn with obstacles and adventures await the players. This is a complete immersion.

What happens when a family finds itself trapped in this game? Far from being creatures of our imagination, the werewolves are very real here and from the little we see of them, they seem frightening. It will not be easy to confront them. Fortunately for the players, they will be able to count on a host of adjuvants whose existence we discover in this new trailer: the witch, but also the hunter and another character known for liking to dress up (the little girl?) and another who is constantly injured (the scapegoat?).

Now let's say that one of the werewolves is a member of the family…

With Werewolvesscheduled for release on October 23, Netflix is signing its horror comedy for Halloween, and hopes to appeal to an international audience intrigued by the game's borderless reputation. The cast also includes Grégory Fitoussi, Suzanne Clément, Bruno Gouery, Alizée Caugnies, Lisa Do Couto Teixeira, Raphaël Romand and Jonathan Lambert.
