Former Hillary Clinton adviser says Biden's record will 'stand the test of time'

Former Hillary Clinton adviser and CNN contributor Karen Finney said Sunday that President Biden's record will “stand the test of time” as he leaves office.

“I think in the longer term, we will remember that it was a president and a vice president who helped bring us out of the abyss during COVID, when people were dying by the hundreds of thousands every day,” he said. She added: “I think one of the things you'll see him do with the time he has left is more about investing in the chip law and science. I think this is actually going to be transformational in communities across the country. I think Donald Trump will take credit for that. But I think Joe Biden's record of things that he's accomplished will stand the test of time.

Finney admitted that some critics, like fellow panelist Scott Jennings, have criticized the administration “rightly” for not disclosing Biden's mental state. However, she quickly dismissed him in lieu of Biden's foreign policy.

“It was very disturbing to learn at the end of the year how much his health had deteriorated. And like many, I didn't realize it had gotten to this point,” Finney said. . “That being said, I think…he ran for the job. He did the job. I think some of the accomplishments also in the Middle East and in foreign policy will stand the test of time as well.”

Jennings pushed back on that claim, particularly his argument that Biden brought back “a number of hostages” from the Middle East.

“Look, I think he’s going to leave office in disgrace,” Jennings said. “Hunter Biden's pardon was shameful. He will be remembered largely for inflation and for the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan. And I think…we're only getting the first draft of it now.”

He continued: “But as we continue to learn more about the massive cover-up that took place, not about his health, but about his mental acuity to cover this up, the efforts that were undertaken by the House staff Blanche, by her family, not in the last two months, but in the four years, I think it's going to be a really ugly chapter because of that.

A Fox News poll found that Biden had just 41% approval before leaving office and only 7% of respondents think he is “one of the greatest” presidents.
