A limited mini-series in the form of season 8, which will take place during Hal and Lois' 40th wedding anniversary. But will all children answer the call?
Family reunion in sight! Almost 20 years after the end of Malcolmthe cult series will make its return. A sequel has officially been ordered by Disney+, with the return of the main stars of the original cast.
Brian Cranston – has since become a superstar thanks to breaking Bad – will return to play Hal. Jane Kaczmarek will return to play Lois. And Frankie Muniz – who left Hollywood to take up car racing – will return to his acting career to play Malcolm.
This season 8 which does not say its name will be made up of four episodes. A limited return, imagined by the creator of the series Linwood Boomer and which will be seen on Disney Plus, which has held the rights since the acquisition of Fox.
The pitch of the story is already known: Malcolm is going to reunite with his family for Hal and Lois' 40th wedding anniversary. “Malcolm and his daughter find themselves thrust into family chaos when Hal and Lois demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party.” accurately describes the synopsis.

But where will the other brothers be? This is obviously the question that torments us, while Justin Berfield (Reese), Erik Per Sullivan (Dewey) and Christopher Masterson (Francis) have not yet been announced for casting. How to redo well Malcolm without reconstituting the siblings? Suffice to say that we are feverishly waiting to know if they will participate (or not) in their parents' birthday.
For now, Disney just comments: “Malcolm is a historical sitcom that captured the essence of family life with humor, heart and authenticity. Its hilarious and heartfelt portrayal of a lovably chaotic family resonated with audiences of all ages, and we're thrilled to welcome the original cast to bring that magic back to life.”
Ken Kwapiswho has directed several episodes of the series in the past, will direct all four episodes. No date set yet.
