First shots on the famous sailing canoe…
They're about to explore the Pacific Ocean, for real. Moana and Maui will go on a live-action adventure in the new live-action Disney film, which will begin filming in a few days. The director Thomas Kail has been in place in Hawaii for a few days and on social networks, the Reel News Hawaii account shared a behind-the-scenes video offering a first glimpse of the famous boat Moana (below), this canoe decorated with a sail. “The team of Moana in live-action tests Moana's canoe, before the start of filming this week” writes the account.

Catherine Laga'aia And Dwayne Johnson (Vaiana and Maui) will soon be there to film the first scenes.
The screenplay is written by Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller.
The live-action remake of Moana will be released in American theaters on July 10, 2026. Until then, the animated film Moana 2 will be released in theaters on November 27.
