Elon Musk Doesn't Hesitate To Support The Second Amendment: “Tyrants” Disarm The People

Tech billionaire Elon Musk didn't mince words when he declared his support for the Second Amendment on Sunday.

“The right to bear arms is there to protect freedom of speech and prevent a tyrannical government from taking away your rights! That’s why the first thing every tyrant does is disarm the people, just like Chavez did when he was first elected. After that, no more real elections in Venezuela,” Musk wrote on his X account on Sunday.

Musk was responding to an interview clip from Georgia Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock, who appeared on NBC News on Sunday, when he was asked whether Vice President Kamala Harris should support a mandatory gun buyback program.

Buyback programs are government initiatives aimed at purchasing privately owned firearms in order to reduce the number of guns in circulation. Harris supported these mandatory programs during her unsuccessful 2020 campaign for the Oval Office and has since backed away from actively supporting mandatory buyback initiatives.

“Do you think she should also support a mandatory gun buyback program?” NBC’s Kristen Welker asked Warnock, just days after the tragic Georgia school shooting that left four people dead.

“We’re not going to get there without action from Congress. We have to pass laws to fix this problem. I’m glad to hear that two years ago we finally passed a gun safety bill – the Safer Communities Act. It was the first gun safety bill we’ve passed in 30 years. It was small, but it saved lives, but it’s clearly not enough, in light of what happened the other day in Winder, Georgia,” Warnock responded.

“I firmly believe that the right to bear arms is an important protection against potential government tyranny. Historically, maintaining their power over the people is why those in power have not allowed public ownership of firearms,” Musk told CNBC in 2022.

His latest statement in support of Americans' right to bear arms has drawn praise from conservatives and the 2A community.

TRUMP IDENTIFIED BY ELON MUSK TALKING ABOUT ROCKETS: 'I'M MAKING A NEW STAINLESS STEEL HUB'

Trump said last week that if he wins the November election, he would appoint Musk to head a commission on government efficiency.

“I will establish a Government Efficiency Commission to conduct a comprehensive financial and performance audit of the entire federal government,” Trump said in a speech Thursday at the Economic Club of New York.

The comment comes after Musk suggested creating a government efficiency commission last month during a conversation he hosted with Trump on X.

“I look forward to serving America if the opportunity arises. No salary, no title, no recognition necessary,” Musk posted on X after Trump said he would pursue Musk’s idea to create such a commission if he won in November.
