WITH A FEW DRIVERS AS THEY MADE THEIR WAY DOWN THE HIGHWAY. TRIPLE A SAYS MORE THAN 2 MILLION PEOPLE ARE EXPECTED TO BE TAKING THE PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE. THIS THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY, AND THE PEOPLE I SPOKE WITH SAY THEY DIDN’T WANT TO TAKE ANY CHANCES AND DECIDED TO HIT THE ROAD. THE SIGHTS AND SOUNDS OF CARS FILLED THE PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE THIS MORNING. THE MAJORITY OF DRIVERS ON A MISSION TO GET TO THEIR THANKSGIVING DESTINATION. SO WE ACTUALLY JUST CAME FROM DETROIT, MICHIGAN. I ACTUALLY DROVE DOWN FROM NORTH CAROLINA TO GO TO DETROIT TO VISIT MY GIRLFRIEND’S PARENTS, AND NOW I’M MAKING THE LEG DOWN TO MARYLAND TO VISIT MY PARENTS FOR THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY. EVERYTHING STILL LOOKS LIKE TRAFFIC IS GOOD. HAVEN’T HIT NO ACCIDENTS, NO BACKUPS. SO ENJOYING IT. BOTH MILES AND PACE SAYING THEY WANTED TO BEAT THE RUSH AND LEAVE EARLY, HOPING IT PAYS OFF. I SAY THAT NORMALLY THAT THE DC MARYLAND AREA. SO I’M TRYING TO HOPE I GET BYPASS THAT TRAFFIC BECAUSE I KNOW IT CAN GET A LITTLE HECTIC. SO I DO TRY TO TIME MY TRAVEL AROUND TRYING TO GET AROUND THERE BEFORE I GET STUCK. THAT’S HOW I KNOW THE TRAFFIC’S AT. BUT UNLIKE A NORMAL ROAD TRIP, HAYS SAYS HE HAS HIS EYES ON THE PRIZE EVERY TIME. IT’S THE PUMPKIN PIE. EVERY TIME MY MOM GOES LIKE 24 HOURS TO PREPARE THE TURKEY. BUT THAT $6 COSTCO PUMPKIN PIE IS ALWAYS THE STAR OF THE SHOW. BOTH MEN SHARING SOME ADVICE WITH THEIR FELLOW DRIVERS. PAY ATTENTION. WE PRAY BEFORE WE TAKE OFF. SO YOU KNOW, WE MAKE SURE THAT WE TRY TO BE COVERED. SO I JUST SAY BE ALERT. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN EASY PASS. AND WITH THOSE EXTRA PEOPLE EXPECTED TO BE ON THE ROAD TODAY. AAA is predicting more than 2 million people will be taking the Pennsylvania Turnpike this Thanksgiving holiday.Many people said they didn’t want to take any chances and decided to hit the road early.”We actually just came from Detroit, Michigan. I actually drove down from North Carolina to go to Detroit to visit my girlfriend’s parents, and now I’m making the leg down to Maryland to visit my parents for the Thanksgiving holiday,” Peter Pae said. “Everything still looks like the traffic is good. I haven’t hit no accidents, no backups, so I’m enjoying it,” Anthony Miles said.Both Miles and Pae said they wanted to beat the rush and hoped leaving early would pay off.”I’d say normally that D.C./Maryland area, so I’m trying to hope I bypass that traffic because I know it can get a little hectic, so I do try to time my travel to try to get around there before I get stuck. That’s where I know the traffic’s at,” Miles said.However, unlike a normal road trip, Pae said he has his eyes on the prize.”Every time, it’s the pumpkin pie. My mom goes, like, 24 hours to prepare the turkey, but that $6 Costco pumpkin pie is always the star of the show,” Pae said.Both men shared some advice with their fellow drivers.”Pay attention.
