First new DC Universe (DCU) movie“Superman”is the first standalone movie and reboot of Superman, one of DC's most popular heroes. Director/writer James Gunn originally titled the film Superman: Legacy, but later changed the title.
Why did director Gunn remove “legacy” from the title? In an interview with Comicbook.com, he said, “One of the reasons was that I thought the title had a feeling of looking back at the past. This is a movie that doesn't look back on the past, but looks toward the future.''
According to previous reports, “Superman'' is a story that depicts “Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent.'' Cancer is “If you watch the movie, you'll understand where the 'legacy' comes from, because it's a story that explores Clark[Kent]his relationships, and what his legacy is.”he said. “However, I felt that the title looked too far back into the past.”
Gunn probably originally used the word “legacy” in the title to imply a “legacy” of his upbringing and past as a Kryptonian and as a human. However, Superman films include the original film series starring Christopher Reeve, as well as the old DCU series starring Henry Cavill. Gunn may have been concerned that the title “Superman: Legacy'' would rather evoke the legacy of previous films.
The DCU is moving from here to the future rather than the past. I'm sure Gunn had an aim to promote “Superman'' as an important work that “looks toward the future'' of the new DCU, without being tied down to the past series.
The cast includes David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Isabella Merced as Hawkgirl, and Mr.・Terrific: Eddie Gathegi as Michael Holt, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, and others.
The movie “Superman” will be released in Japan in the summer of 2025.The US release date is July 11th.
