Will he become Matt Murdock's ally in the new Disney Plus series? Vincent D'Onofrio and Charlie Cox give their opinions.
“I must say that it’s not unpleasant to see you again…” Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk were never friends. But in the trailer for Daredevil: Born Againthey seem surprisingly close. In a restaurant in New York, they leave Daredevil and Kingpin in the locker room to chat amicably. So will they become friends or fighting comrades in the next season of the Marvel series?
Charlie Cox explains in EW that production approached their relationship in a “very careful. You have to prepare well for when and how they end up in the same room. Because we must have the impression that when they cross paths, it is an unstoppable force that meets an immovable object. You have to feel like it could or will explode. If you put them together in an inconsequential scene, it lessens that explosive tension that always exists between them..” Cox even confides that he had a sequence removed from the script, which he found too tepid between them.
So which Wilson Fisk will we see in Daredevil Born Again ? What is the new Mayor of New York's plan? Does he want to help his constituents as he tells Matt? Or does he have a sordid idea in mind? The story of the series is inspired by the recent “Mayor Fisk” saga from Marvel comics (written by Charles Soule and Christos Gage, with art by Ron Garney and Stefano Landini). But Vincent D'Onofrio promises that spectators will be surprised:
“Everything that happens in our series almost always leads to an even crazier and more unexpected reality”insists D'Onofrio, who only reveals that Wilson Fisk did not become altruistic overnight: “For Fisk, this new journey (to city hall) is a path to more control!”
We'll see what that means on March 5, the release date of Daredevil Born Again on Disney Plus.
