The 85-year-old director will direct a “1930s-style musical comedy”, entitled Glimpses of the Moon.
13 million dollars in revenue for a budget of 130 million coming largely from its own funds: Francis Ford Coppola lost a lot of money with Megalopolis. Besides, it's been a while since Coppola last enjoyed success, his last box office success dating back to The Idealist (1997) with Matt Damonwhich had approached 50 million dollars…
But the Coppola legend remains and although he has just turned 85, the director already has his next film in sight. A film that is still self-financed according to the Washington Post, which announces that filming will begin in early 2025.
The film will be called Glimpses of the Moon. Coppola announced to the American daily that after celebrating the Christmas holidays with his family in the United States, he would be heading to London to launch production. The filmmaker speaks of it as a “strange musical comedy in the style of the 30s“.
No cast names have been announced yet. Glimpses of the Moon will be an adaptation of Edith Wharton's novel and “inspired” by Leo McCarey's 1937 film, This Sacred Truth. The story revolves around married couples who separate amicably and discover that it is harder to separate than they initially thought.
