David Fincher's version of “Squid Game” is officially underway – original version creator confirms | THE RIVER

The South Korean Netflix series “Squid Game” is a story about men and women of all ages trying to get rich quickly in a life-threatening survival game. Season 1, which was released in 2021, attracted attention around the world, becoming the most-watched non-English series and winning the first Emmy Award. Season 2 will be released on December 26, 2024, and it has once again become a hot topic.

This work will conclude with season 3, which is scheduled to be released in 2025, but Donghyuk stated, “Netflix has a plan.'' A specific example was David Fincher's version of “Squid Game,” which was reported in October 2024.“They (Netflix) are not going to abandon this idea. I may end up joining as an advisor or co-creator, but no one knows yet.”.

This project is Fincher's next Netflix work after “Mank” (2020) and “The Killer” (2023). It is unclear whether it will be a remake of the original or an independent work with a new story. It is reported that the script will be written by Dennis Kelly, who has also worked on “The Third Day'' (2020).

As of November 2024, Donghyuk commented on Fincher's version, “I can't talk about it because it's probably not an official announcement.'' Perhaps some progress has been made since then. By the way, from that time on, I said, “I respect David Fincher and love his works.If he were to remake it, I would watch it as a fan, and I think he made a great Squid Game.'' I hope you will do well,” he said expressing his expectations.
