“10 girls, two bathrooms,” she captioned a screenshot of the video, which shows several women doing their hair, makeup and trying to get ready in multiple rooms.

Gauff wrote in a separate comment: “All the tennis girls moved to a hotel except me. So now only 5 girls, two bathrooms.”

The tennis star said she borrowed a mattress topper from the archery team to help her sleep on the cardboard beds.

The Olympic Village has been the subject of much discussion in the run-up to the Paris Olympics. The cramped living conditions were one thing, but the ban on air conditioning was another.

Paris 2024 organizers have not installed air conditioners in the village rooms. A cooling system has been set up, using natural cold water drawn from a depth of 70 meters and which will circulate in the floors of the buildings to reduce the temperature in the apartments.

The move is part of the organizing committee's goal to halve the carbon footprint of the Paris Games and deliver the most sustainable Olympics to date by installing special technology to use natural sources to keep everyone cool even during a possible heatwave.
