It appears that filming for the movie version of the popular drama “Peaky Blinders'' (2013-2022) has finished. Netflix announced on social media that filming has finished, and released behind-the-scenes photos of Cillian Murphy, who will continue to play the main character Tommy Shelby, and new cast member Barry Keoghan.
All six seasons of Peaky Blinders, produced by the BBC, are a crime drama based on the real-life gangster group Peaky Blinders. Set in Birmingham, England between 1919 and 1934, the film depicts the clandestine operations of a gangster family led by Thomas Shelby (Murphy), also known as Tommy, in a time of rapid social, economic, and political change.
New photos have been released in conjunction with the sequel movie's crank-up. Murphy and Corgan, who are co-starring again for the first time since “Dunkirk'', are wearing the film's iconic newsboy caps and suits, facing each other and smiling broadly.
The film version, which will be co-produced by Netflix and BBC Film, will be written by Peaky Blinders creator Stephen Knight and directed by Tom Harper, who directed the first season. Executive producers include Knight, Harper, and star Murphy. In addition to Keoghan, new cast members include Rebecca Ferguson from the Mission: Impossible series and Tim Roth from The Incredible Hulk (2008).
The plot has been kept secret at this time, but it is said that the story will take place after World War II. Knight said, “This is going to be an exciting chapter in the Peaky Blinders story,'' and predicted, “It's going to be an all-out war for Peaky Blinders, with no compromises.'' The release date has not yet been determined, but considering that it will now enter post-production, it is expected to be released around 2025 to early 2026.
