Brisk, Cold, Scattered Flakes into the Weekend
TO HEAD OUT THE DOOR. WE DO HAVE SOME SNOWFLAKES THAT WILL BE FLYING AROUND THROUGH THE DAY. COULD SEE A LIGHT DUSTING TO UP TO AN INCH. A BETTER CHANCE FOR SOME ACCUMULATION WILL BE UP ALONG I-80 INTO THE MOUNTAINS EAST, AND IT WILL BE CLOUDY AND CHILLY TODAY. AND THAT WILL BE THE TREND INTO THE WEEKEND. NOW OUR ACTION CAM OVER THE CITY. RELATIVELY QUIET, BUT YOU CAN SEE A FEW FLAKES FLYING AROUND, BUT NOTHING TOO SIGNIFICANT HERE IN WILKINSBURG. AND IT LOOKS A LOT WORSE HERE ON OUR RADAR THAN WHAT’S ACTUALLY HITTING THE GROUND. A LOT OF THIS IS STILL FIZZLING OUT AS WE HAVE SOME DRIER AIR IN PLACE, BUT OVERALL WE WILL NOTICE SOME ACCUMULATION, ESPECIALLY AS WE CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAY, MAINLY UP ALONG I-80. BUT WE ARE SEEING SOME OF THOSE LIGHT FLAKES FLYING AROUND IN NORTHERN PARTS OF BUTLER, ESPECIALLY MERCER. EVEN INTO LAWRENCE AND BEAVER COUNTY. AGAIN, A FLURRY OR TWO IN AND AROUND THE CITY, AND A LITTLE BIT IN THOSE HIGHER ELEVATIONS. CAMBRIA, SOMERSET. GARRETT, EVEN INTO WASHINGTON AND GREENE. HERE’S YOUR FOUR DAY FORECAST. AGAIN, WE ARE GOING TO SEE THOSE SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS, COLD AIR IN PLACE, FLURRIES AND BREEZY CONDITIONS ON SATURDAY. AND THEN AS WE HEAD INTO SUNDAY, DIPPING DOWN INTO THE MID 20S AGAIN. MONDAY WE ARE STAYING DRY. BACK IN THE UPPER 30S AND WE ARE GOING TO WARM UP AS WE GET INTO CHRISTMAS EVE AND CHRISTMAS DAY. 33 RIGHT NOW PITTSBURGH MONROEVILLE AIRPORT 31, IN BUTLER, 34, INDIANA 32 WASHINGTON AND WAYNESBURG. SO LOOKING AT OUR FUTURECAST AGAIN, MOST OF THE ACCUMULATING SNOW WILL BE NORTH AND EAST OF THE CITY. BUT WE’LL SEE THESE SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS FLYING AROUND, ESPECIALLY FOR THE EARLY PART OF THE DAY. THEN THEY’LL SLOWLY START TO LIGHTEN UP THROUGH THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. YOU’RE GOING TO SEE SOME SUNSHINE ON SATURDAY, BUT ALSO SOME BANDS OF SNOW THAT COULD DROP YOUR VISIBILITY PRETTY QUICKLY BETWEEN TEN AND 12, ESPECIALLY NORTH OF THE CITY, INCLUDING BUTLER. ALSO IN ARMSTRONG AND INDIANA UP INTO LAWRENCE. THAT COULD DIP DOWN INTO ALLEGHENY COUNTY. BEAVER, WASHINGTON AND GREENE BETWEEN 5 AND 8:00 INTO THE EVENING. SO JUST BE AWARE OF THAT. WE WILL SEE SUN. WE’LL ALSO HAVE SOME LAKE EFFECT BANDS THAT WILL BE TRYING TO WORK THEIR WAY IN ON SATURDAY. SO THERE’S YOUR 4-DAY PLUS 4 MORE FORECAST. LET’S LOOK HOW MUCH SNOW. LIKE I SAID, NOT A WHOLE LOT. AS WE CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAY, I THINK MOST OF US WILL SEE JUST A LIGHT DUSTING. WE’LL SEE THOSE NUMBERS JUMP UP A LITTLE BIT NORTH AND EAST OF THE CITY ABOUT AN INCH. AND THEN ON FRIDAY COULD SEE AN ADDITIONAL INCH IN THOSE AREAS UP ALONG INTERSTATE 80, AGAIN INTO THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS. AGAIN COULD SEE A LIGHT DUSTING UP TO A HALF AN INCH IN AND AROUND PITTSBURGH. NOW, AS WE LOOK INTO CHRISTMAS EVE, CHRISTMAS DAY, THERE IS A CHANCE RIGHT NOW STILL FOR SOME LIGHT RAIN AND SNOW. IT LOOKS TO BE EARLY STARTING AROUND MIDNIGHT TILL ABOUT NINE 10:00 EARLY TUESDAY. SO IF YOU ARE TRAVELING LOCALLY CHRISTMAS EVE TO HANG OUT WITH FAMILY MEMBERS, WE ARE GOING TO BE DEALING WITH PRETTY QUIET CONDITIONS. IT IS NOT GOING TO BE A WHITE CHRISTMAS, BUT WE ARE GOING TO STAY DRY AND TEMPERATURE
