Tim Burton, Jenna Ortega, Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder opened the 2024 edition of the Italian festival last night.
Fans shouted his name more than once! Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice ! The gang of Tim Burton was celebrated last night, during the opening ceremony of the 81st Venice Film Festival. With Michael Keaton in the lead, the casting of Beetlejuice 2 made the event at the opening of the Italian festival.
At his side, we could obviously find Winona Ryder or even Willem Dafoebut also Justin Theroux Or Catherine O'Hara. But the one that really caused hysteria among fans around the red carpet was Jenna Ortega. Wearing a red Dior dress, the star of Wednesday (on Netflix) grabbed all the limelight. The newcomer to the franchise was able to enjoy all of its current popularity and took selfies from start to finish.
The 21-year-old star even gave a standing ovation for Sigourney Weaverwhen the star from Alien took the stage to accept an honorary Golden Lion, the central moment of an opening ceremony that concluded with a preview screening of Beetlejuice 2.
Variety reports that as the final note of the credits rolled, the audience rose for a traditional standing ovation. It lasted for three minutes, but “The applause would probably have lasted much longer, had Venice's programmers not quickly dimmed the lights as Michael Keaton, Catherine O'Hara and Jenna Ortega bowed and savored the applause” writes the American magazine.
Beetlejuice 2 will be released in theaters in France on September 11.
