Ahead of Vice President Harris' rally in Philadelphia with her new running mate, Gov. Tim Walz, a Minnesota Democrat, on Tuesday, city residents lamented the state of the U.S. economy.

FOX Business' Jeff Flock spoke with several Philadelphia residents about how they're coping in the current economy under President Biden and President Harris, in the wake of the stock market crash.

“It’s always good to talk to real people,” Flock said of his findings on Fox News’ “America Reports.” “And what they’re saying is that they think the economy is bad. And, pardon my French, but that’s actually a direct quote from one of the people we spoke to.”

Philadelphia resident speaks to Fox News about the economy

Fox News spoke with several Philadelphia residents about the current state of the economy.

“This is a Democratic stronghold, by the way,” he said. “You know, Philadelphia County voted 85 percent for Biden four years ago, 15 percent for Trump. Despite that, the people we talked to today, both Democrats and Republicans, say this economy is not working for them.”

“I personally feel like the economy is bad right now,” one local told Flock on camera. “Less pay, more expenses. Bills are going up, rents are going up. It’s pretty bad.”

“I work three jobs to make ends meet each month,” another woman said. “And I have a master’s degree from Columbia. The economy is pretty tough.”

One man said: “Everyone is concerned about the economic situation, and I certainly am.”

Another Philadelphia resident also spoke to Fox News

One resident told Fox News: “I personally feel like the economy is bad right now.”

“Our current government has ruined everything,” another man said. “I can’t afford to live anymore. I make six figures a year, I live in the city. But I still can’t afford to live. I can’t even afford to go out like I used to.”

When Flock asked one woman what she planned for the future, she replied: “Well, depending on how the election goes, I'm either hopeful or I'm moving to Ireland.”

Flock pointed out to Fox News anchor Sandra Smith that he couldn't confirm which candidate victory would prompt this particular woman to move.

“I would point out that even some of the people we’ve spoken to who have been most vocal about their dissatisfaction with the economy are saying, ‘I’m still going to vote for Vice President Harris.’ They just can’t bring themselves to vote for the alternative in this Democratic stronghold. That’s perhaps troubling and counterintuitive,” he added.
