The Dark Knight, not to be confused with Christoper Nolan's Batman, obviously.

“My dance book is starting to get full”swore the actor The Social Networka few days ago, specifying thathe even refused roles. Four years later the sexual assault scandalwhich pushed his agent to no longer work with him, but which did not result in a real trial, Armie Hammer has just filmed a western, Frontier Crucible. Variety we learn today that he has signed to be the star of The Dark Knightdirected by Uwe Boll.

Will this project be the comeback film for the actor Call Me By Your Name And UNCLE code ? Not sure, as Boll has the reputation of being a poor director, coupled with a certain taste for provocation. To the point of having challenged his detractors in a ring, almost 20 years ago, and of having been the subject of two documentaries analyzing the gulf between his ambitions and the reactions of the public once his films were released. He became famous thanks to free adaptations of video games, such asAlone in the Dark (2005) or King Rising (2007) and their sequels, all perceived by gamers as nonsense. He has also directed several action thrillers and/or dealing with current social crises, such as Darfur (2009) or Assault on Wall Street (2013). After a break from 2016, directly linked to all these bad reviews, he has recently resumed his activity. The Dark Knight will mark its 37th achievement in 33 years.

Variety details this winter, his thriller First Shiftstarring Gino Anthony Pesi and Kristen Renton, was one of Paramount+'s surprise hits. Boll has already followed up with Rundealing with the migrant crisis and carried by Amanda Plummer, which is currently the subject of negotiations for a theatrical release in the United States.

Its producer, Michael Roesch, assures that The Dark Knight will not have “no link” with the Batman worn by Christian Bale and Heath Ledger, the huge worldwide hit of 2008. According to him, spectators are not likely to confuse him when choosing their program on VOD or DVD: “Our film is very different from Chris Nolan's, so there is no risk of confusion.”

Armie Hammer will play the protagonist, Sanders, who sets out to hunt criminals. As his crusade turns him into a hero in the public eye on social media, the local police chief considers him a threat to society and seeks to bring him down.

It is set to begin filming in Croatia on January 27. Co-produced by Boll (who is also behind the screenplay) and Roesch, The Dark Knight will be designed by the director's usual collaborators: director of photography Mathias Neumann, executive producer Boris Velican, editor Ethan Maniquis…

“The story of the Dark Knight couldn’t be more timely, and I can’t wait to bring it to life with this great team,” declares its creator, enthusiastically.

“With Armie Hammer in the lead role and other great actors to be announced soon, and with an exceptional script, we look forward to building on the great response we've had to First Shift And Runteases Roesch. And we will have another strong film soon.”
