Selected for the 2024 Filmmakers' Fortnight and the Annecy Festival, this animated film focuses on beauty and humor to please young and old alike.

The result of the creative encounter between the Japanese animation studio, Shin-ei Animation, at the origin of Doraemon And Crayon Shin-chanand the French studio Miyu Productions, which is behind Linda wants chicken (winner of the César for best animated film 2024), Blind WillowsAnd sleeping woman, Anzu, ghost cat offers a first trailer in shimmering colors where lyricism meets farce.

Adapted from a manga by Takashi Imashiro, the story is that of Karin, an 11-year-old girl, abandoned by her father, riddled with debts at her grandfather's, the monk of a small town in the Japanese province. The latter asks Anzu, his ghost cat to watch over her.

The least we can say is that this big ball of fur is far from being as kawaii as Totoro was in the animated film, My Neighbor Totoro by Myazaki. Anzu is the comic element of this trailer. Arriving on his moped, he behaves like a human: he cooks, but also urinates like a human and has flatulence… like humans! A bit crude but guaranteed laughter.

With his help, we understand that the intrepid Karin will find her mother, who has died, and will try to get her out of the world of the dead. Here they are launched into an adventure during which they will be hunted by spirits coming from the world of the deceased. Let's hope for the young girl that Anzu will be able to bring her luck like the traditional Maneki-neko.

Anzu, Ghost Cat is an almost dreamlike vision with shimmering colors and filled with poetry. Directed by Yoko Kuno and Nobuhiro Yamashita, the film will be released on August 21 in theaters.
