Disney Plus' new Marvel series is a direct sequel to the one released in 2021. A quick recap is in order.

It was more than three years ago. WandaVision ended at the beginning of 2021 and in this fall of 2024 the sequel arrives: Agatha All Along. The new series is released today on Disney Plus, and picks up directly after the events of WandaVision or almost. So we'll refresh your memory. Spoiler alert!

In the very first Marvel series on Disney Plus, Wanda Maximoff bewitched a small town in New Jersey, to make it seem as if she was living an idyllic life with her husband Vision, modeled on the American sitcoms she watched as a child. Among her neighbors, there was a certain Agnes… less fooled than the others! And for good reason, pretending to be also under the spell, the nice neighbor was in fact an evil sorceress power by the name of Agatha Harkness.

Using the Darkhold, the famous Book of the Damned, Agatha transformed Wanda into the mythical Scarlet Witch, “more powerful than the Sorcerer Supreme (Doctor Strange) himself”, to better steal her immense power (because she absorbs powers when attacked). Except that the plan did not go as planned…

Agatha has been defeated. Wanda has stolen her powers. And she has gotten her revenge by bewitching her for good. The old witch of Salem really becomes Agnes, stuck in Westview and dreaming her life in her head.

This is where we find her in the new series. Agatha All Along. She has been wandering around in a hallucinatory existence for three years, haunted by the fate of the Scarlett Witch. But Wanda dies (at the end of Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness) and the spell crumbles, the veil before Agnes slowly lifts. She will be able to become Agatha again…
