Only one thing is certain: “It won’t be a sequel!”
Coralie Fargeat got the Oscars season off to a good start in Hollywood: its leading actress Demi Moore received the Golden Globe for best actress for this “enjoyable and die-hard body horror”. When Variety asked the French director if she had already started working on another project, she did not hide her desire to surprise again… She therefore prefers to keep it a secret:
“For now, I'm not talking about anything. I'm just enjoying the present moment and taking the time to write my next project. It's slowly starting to settle into place in my brain and when things have calmed down , I will take over.”
Demi Moore in shock: she wins her first major prize thanks to The Substance
The idea that germinates in his mind “will be totally different from the concept of The Substancebut with many similarities, she specifies all the same. I like making films that are bold and surprising with things you don't expect, so that's definitely what I want to do. I love the freedom I gave myself for this film and it's definitely something I want to continue doing. That’s what I liked most about The Substance.”
One thing is certain: whatever Fargeat's next project is, it will not be a sequel to this film which was generally well received by critics. From the same American media, the director already acclaimed for Revenge explained:
“The purpose of this film is to introduce new things to the world. No sequels. No prequels. No number two, no number three. I will be very happy to bring something new to the world in a short time .”
The Substancealso worn by Margaret Qualley and Dennis Quaid, will be available on DVD and blu-ray at the end of April. Until then, it has a chance of winning a few Oscars… Here is its trailer:
