Diego Luna teases a finale that will change the way viewers look at the events leading to the destruction of the Death Star.

Last week at D23, Disney Studios confirmed the return of two iconic characters from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in season 2 ofAndor. On one side, a super-villain, Orson Krennic, officer of the Galactic Empire, and on the other a hero of the rebellion, Saw Gerrera. They are not the only ones since we will now have to count on K-2SO, the security droid also seen in the 2016 feature film. Dubbed by Alan Tudykthis robot initially designed to serve the Imperial Army and which was reprogrammed by the Rebel Alliance, accompanied Cassian Andor in his mission to destroy the Death Star.

Happy to be able to work with the actor again, Diego Luna who plays the rebellious hero, teased from Entertainment Weekly the crucial role that the droid will play:

“You will understand why K-2 is very important in Rogue Oneand why he is a key figure for the Rebellion.”

Tracing the last five years leading up to the events of Rogue One and on the formation of the Rebel Alliance, Andor was acclaimed by fans and critics alike when it was released two years ago. Which justifies the wait for this second and final season. It will take us straight to the beginning of the feature film, before Cassian learns the fate of all the heroes…

For this finale, the main actor is affirmative: he will give the audience a new look at the film. Just like Rogue Oneat the time, allowed the public to see otherwise Star Wars: A New Hope, released in 1977:

“I think the spectators who will watch Rogue One after finishing season 2 will see a whole different movie. Everything will take on a whole new meaning knowing what had to happen for K-2 to be there. It will make you see the Rogue One adventure differently, I think. And not just with K-2, but with all the other characters. I think it's going to be really cool.”

Among the other characters present in this second season, we will once again find Senator Mothma played by Gene O'Reilly, a major figure in the Rebellion.

Composed of twelve episodes, season 2 ofAndor is set to arrive on Disney+ in 2025 after being delayed by the Hollywood writers' strike.
