After A Perfect Couple, already a new series for Nicole Kidman

Not one, not two, but three Oscar-winning actresses will be in the cast of Scarpetta, adapted from the novels by Patricia Cornwell.

It's the hit of the moment on Netflix. The mini-series A Perfect Couple is a hit on the platform and it is also thanks to the presence of Nicole Kidman in the cast. The former movie star is now a superstar of the small screen. Since Big Little Liesshe has had a series of major performances (in The UndoingIn Nine Perfect Strangers, In Expats…). And she already has her next role in sight. Once again, it will be a thriller.

Scarpetta will be the series adaptation of Kay Scarpetta's novels Patricia Cornwell. Prime Video has officially ordered two seasons.

Nicole Kidman will play the title role, that of medical examiner Kay Scarpetta, who returns to Virginia and her old job. She navigates complex personal and professional relationships – including the one with her sister, Dorothy, who will be played by Jamie Lee Curtis.

The two Oscar-winning stars will carry this icy thriller, which will include a third Oscar-winning actress in its cast: Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) will play Dorothy's daughter, Lucy Farinelli-Watson.

The rest of this stellar cast will be made up of Bobby Cannavale (Boardwalk Empire), of Mentalist Simon Bakerof Rosy McEwen (The Alienist) and of Jake Cannavale (Bobby's real son).

Liz Sarnoff (Barry) will be the writer/showrunner and Patricia Cornwell follow this closely: ““I am beyond excited that this is finally happening. It will be a lot of fun for everyone, and I am grateful to see all the incredible talent that the show is attracting,” the writer said in a statement. “I have always been a huge fan of Jamie Lee Curtis and Nicole Kidman. Their willingness to do this is humbling and just plain awesome.”

The character of Scarpettaa fan of tagliatelle bolognese, first appeared in the book Postmortem in 1990, and in more than 20 novels thereafter (the last published in November 2023).
