Deadpool & Wolverine is finally in theaters, and honors the first two parts of a saga based on an overbidding of gags and meta references. For the first time since 2019 and the financial transaction that reshuffled the Hollywood cards, it is not one, but two Fox characters who are making an incursion into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and that, Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds), is not ready to make us forget it.

Deadpool & Wolverine accomplish their mission [critique]

In a desperate attempt to save his universe, threatened by the TVA (or Tribunal of Anachronistic Variations), Deadpool calls upon a somewhat reluctant Wolverine. What follows is a long exploration of the confines of space-time, with a passage through the Vortex, a sort of space-time dump governed by Cassandra Nova Xavier (Emma Corrin), the twin sister of Charles Xavier, Professor X.

A selection of characters from a section of Marvel comics historically exploited by 20th Century Fox, to which Deadpool 3 does not fail to pay homage. During the first credits, the viewer has the leisure to (re)discover a whole bunch of archive images, making-of of various superhero films developed by Fox from X-Men, X2 And The Final Showdown has Dark PhoenixPassing by X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The Fantastic Four with Chris Evans, The Fantastic Four with Michael B. Jordan, The beginning, Apocalypse, Days of Future Past, Daredevil, Elektra…

In short, enough to make the eyes of even the most nostalgic a little moist, especially when you see, in the middle of Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen And Halle Berrya young Hugh Jackman all smiles, happy to be able to prove himself.

But that's not all. After the credits, the film only really ends with another post-credits scene. To understand it, a few elements of context: during their wanderings in the desert expanse of the Vortex, the two friends come across Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, in the guise of an actor that the spectators will easily recognize. Captured by Cassandra's henchmen, the trio is confronted with her supernatural powers when she dismembers Johnny with a gesture of her hand, killing him instantly.

The reason? Deadpool plays the snitch and reports to the big baddie the prodigiously insulting words that Johnny would have had towards her. One problem remains however, the spectator did not hear these insults: enough to think that Wade Wilson, seized by one of his fits of sarcasm, invented everything…

At the end of the film, Deadpool wants to restore the truth, and his honor. So he waits for us in front of the TVA control console to show us the excerpt that the film's editing deliberately concealed from us, but captured by the cameras of the Tribunal of Anachronistic Variations. Damning images, which prove that the masked mercenary did not invent Johnny Storm's more than flowery language. Deadpool is a snitch but not a myth.
