A typical November day in western PA

Dry today but clouds will be slow to clear with highs in the 40s.

ACTION NEWS FOUR. THAT LOOKS SO COOL TO SEE. JILL AND I WERE JUST TALKING. WE’RE GOING TO KIND OF MISS THE CLINK OF THE SUITCASE. YOU ALWAYS KNOW YOU’RE HOME WHENEVER YOU HEAR YOUR ROLLER BAG GO OVER THAT. YOU ARE EXACTLY RIGHT. NOW, IF YOU’RE PLANNING TO TRAVEL THIS WEEK, BE PREPARED AND PACK YOUR PATIENCE, RIGHT? ESPECIALLY IF YOU’RE ON THE ROADS GETTING CLOSER TO THANKSGIVING ITSELF EARLY ON IN THE WEEK, THINGS ARE GOING TO BE JUST FINE. IN FACT, WE’VE CLEARED UP A LOT OF THE RAIN AND SNOW FROM LATE LAST WEEK. WE DID PICK UP OUR FIRST MEASURABLE SNOW OF THE SEASON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY. JUST A HALF INCH HERE IN THE CITY OF PITTSBURGH. OBVIOUSLY A LOT HIGHER INTO THE LAUREL HIGHLANDS. YOU STILL HAVE A DECENT AMOUNT OF SNOW ON THE GROUND, ESPECIALLY AS YOU CLIMB HIGHER IN ELEVATION. STILL STUCK WITH THE CLOUDS HERE ON YOUR SUNDAY AND TEMPERATURES WILL BE SLOW TO WARM OVER THE NEXT 12 HOURS. WILL MANAGE ABOUT THE MID TO UPPER 40S ACROSS THE REGION, MORE THAN LIKELY ONCE THE SUN SETS AFTER 5:00, WE’LL START TO SEE SOME CLEARING HAPPENING. THAT WILL BE A THEME AS WE GO THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT HOURS, SO IT WILL BE A LITTLE BIT CHILLIER AS WE WAKE UP ON MONDAY. YOU CAN ALREADY START TO SEE THAT CLEARING LINE INCHING CLOSER TO THE CITY OF PITTSBURGH. AROUND 9:00 THIS EVENING. IT WILL START IN THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF THE COMMONWEALTH, BACK INTO WEST VIRGINIA AS WELL, AND THEN WORKING TOWARDS I-80 AS WE GO THROUGH THE NIGHT. MAYBE SOME TOUCHES OF VALLEY FOG AND SOME SELECT LOCATIONS. BUT THINGS SHOULD BE EASY GOING TOMORROW MORNING. BUT BRING THE RAIN GEAR WITH YOU. WE’LL INTRODUCE A FEW LIGHT SHOWERS AROUND MIDDAY. WE PRETTY SPORADIC IN COVERAGE. BETTER CHANCE FOR RAIN THOUGH. PICKS UP AS WE GO THROUGH THE NIGHT. MORE THAN LIKELY WHILE YOU’RE SLEEPING. WE’LL SEE THE ONSET OF THAT STEADIER RAIN OUT OF HERE, THOUGH. BY WAKE UP WELL AHEAD OF THE TUESDAY MORNING COMMUTE, AND WE’LL KEEP IT DRY THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE DAY. NUMBERS, THOUGH, WILL BE GETTING CHILLIER. THAT’S JUST PHASE ONE OF THESE CHANGES. GETTING CLOSER TO THANKSGIVING DAY. WHILE IT’S GOING TO BE A CHILLY ONE ON WEDNESDAY AGAIN, TRAVEL LOOKING JUST FINE ACROSS OUR NECK OF THE WOODS, BUT WE ARE WATCHING A SYSTEM THAT WILL BE COMING IN AND THAT COULD PLAY MORE OF A ROLE AS WE LOOK AHEAD TO THANKSGIVING DAY. THURSDAY IS AN IMPACT DAY FOR US. STILL A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS HERE WITH THIS STORM, LIKE THE TRACK AND THAT’S GOING TO MEAN A LOT AS TO WHAT WE SEE FALLING FROM THE SKY. SCENARIO NUMBER ONE KEEPS THAT STORM SYSTEM IN THE OHIO VALLEY. IN FACT, JUST SOUTH OF US HERE IN WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA, THAT WOULD ALLOW THE CHILLIER AIR TO TAKE OVER. SO IT WOULD BE SNOW EITHER SOLUTION HERE, IT’S GOING TO BE A WIDESPREAD RATHER DAY LONG EVENT SCENARIO NUMBER TWO TAKES THAT LOW RIGHT THROUGH WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA. THAT WOULD ALLOW SOME MILDER AIR TO BUBBLE IN. SO WITH THAT SET UP, WE WOULD START AS RAIN BEFORE GETTING OVER TO SNOW BY THE END OF THANKSGIVING. SO OBVIOUSLY WE HAVE A LOT TO WATCH HERE AS WE CONTINUE THROUGH THE END OF THIS WEEK. AND OF COURSE, WE’LL BE EYEING IT CAREFULLY OVER THE NEXT FOUR DAYS. JUST WATCHING THOSE TEMPERATURES DROP THAT SHOWER CHANCE MONDAY INTO TUESDAY PRETTY MINIMAL AS AGAIN, MOST OF THAT HAPPENS WHILE YOU’RE SLEEPING. THAT IMPACT DAY ON THURSDAY OBVIOUSLY KIND OF RAISES SOME EYEBROWS THERE, AS WE’LL KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR SOME SHOWERS, EVEN SOME SNOW SHOWERS AS WELL. MORE SNOW POSSIBLE INTO BLACK FRIDAY TEMPERATURES. COLD ENOUGH THAT ANY SNOW THAT DOES FLY WILL BE STICKING AND AS WE STEP INTO THE MONTH OF DECEMBER NEXT WEEKEND, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT MUCH COLDER AIR. OF COURSE, WE HAVEN’T SEEN THE 20S YET FOR HIGHS, IT’S GOING TO BE A LITTLE BIT OF A COLD STRETCH AS WE START. START THE MONTH OF DECEMBER. SO FOR WINTER FANS, TIME HAS ARRIVED. BUT FOR SO MANY, YOU KNOW, SO WARM FOR SO LONG, IT’S GOING TO BE A BIG CHANGE OVER THE NEXT WEEK. WE WERE SPOILED. WE WERE. YEAH, IT’S ABOUT TH

Dry today but clouds will be slow to clear with highs in the 40s.

Dry from start to finish today. On the other hand, clouds will be slow to break apart. Temperatures will run right around normal; so it’s a run-of-the-mill late November day for the Pittsburgh area. The pattern turns unsettled Thanksgiving week. Showers after late-day Monday with most of the rain falling while you sleep into Tuesday morning. Things look to dry up ahead of the morning commute. No issues for the busy travel day Wednesday. The next big system comes on Thanksgiving Day. It is an Impact Day for the potential of rain and/or snow. We still have questions about the storm’s track; this will determine what we see fall. Either way it looks to be a widespread, day-long event which could lead to some tricky travel conditions.TODAY: Clouds, peeks of PM sun. Mild and still a tad breezy, high: 48°.TONIGHT: Partly to mostly cloudy. Chilly, low: 37°.TOMORROW: Increasing clouds then late-day showers. High: 55°, low: 42°.
