The Los Angeles prosecutor says he is ready to review the case and examine new evidence. For the creator of the Netflix series, Ryan Murphy, there is little doubt that the two murderers will be free in a few weeks.

A new hearing for Erik and Lyle Menendez has been set for November 29, more than 28 years after their conviction for the murder of their parents and two weeks after the release of the Netflix series.
Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón made the announcement at a news conference Thursday and said new evidence had been uncovered that the brothers were allegedly sexually assaulted by their father, José Menendez. The justification for the murder put forward by the two brothers and about which there has always been doubt.
“We received evidence. We received a photocopy of a letter allegedly sent by one of the brothers to another family member, discussing the fact that he was a victim of sexual assault. We also evidence provided by the defense, by its lawyers, that one of the members of the Menudo group alleged that he had been sexually assaulted by his father.”
We're not there yet, but this new hearing could possibly lead to a new trial or a new verdict…
“None of this information has been confirmed,” tempers George Gascón. “We are not prepared to say at this point whether or not we believe this information, but we are here to tell you that we have a moral and ethical obligation to examine what is presented to us, to find out whether these people deserve to be retried. Because they have been in prison for years and have paid their debt to society.”
In any case, Ryan Murphy is already there. If a new trial of Menendez brothers was to take place, season 2 of Monster would have a sequel: “If Cooper Koch and Nicholas Alexander (the actors who play Lyle and Erik on the show) agreed to do it, maybe we could do one or two more episodes to continue the story..” he already told Variety before taking on part of these consequences: “We gave them the opportunity to make themselves heard by public opinion. In fact, we gave them a platform. I think they could be released by Christmas. I am convinced of it!”
